The Data Governance Specialist is a key player in managing and safeguarding data in organizations that handle extensive datasets. This role is vital in implementing effective data governance practices to ensure data quality, compliance, and efficient data management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Data Governance Strategy Execution: Assist in the development and execution of non-invasive data governance strategies in line with organizational goals and data architecture. This includes supporting the maintenance of data standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborative Efforts with Stakeholders: Work with various departments such as IT, legal, compliance, and business units to align data governance practices with both internal and external standards and requirements.
  • Data Governance Training: Leverage knowledge and certifications in non-invasive data governance to contribute to team training and development, ensuring up-to-date practices in data governance.
  • Data Quality and Protection: Help establish and enforce data quality and protection standards, including implementing relevant audit processes to maintain data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Compliance and Risk Assessment: Assist in monitoring adherence to data governance policies and regulatory requirements, identifying and addressing potential data-related risks.
  • Tools and Technology Management: Engage in the operation and management of data governance tools and technologies, keeping updated with new developments in the field.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Contribute to developing metrics and reports to measure the success of data governance initiatives and support in providing updates to senior management.
  • Support: Collaborate with teams across the various divisions to ensure comprehensive integration of data governance practices across the organization.
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in data governance, particularly in non-invasive approaches, and familiarity with implementing data governance frameworks and policies.
  • Relevant certifications in data governance are advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of data governance principles and methodologies.
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Analytical mindset with robust problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools and software. 
 
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional remote office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands
This position requires the frequent and repetitive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Hand and finger dexterity is required.
