POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of MP&L Supervisor and/or the Production (shift) Supervisor, the Material Handler is responsible for receiving as well as distribution and storage of all production related materials.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Transport materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas using a forklift or hand truck
• Take inventory of material, equipment, and supplies in storage as assigned on a daily, monthly, and annual basis
• Maintain plant; ensure neat and orderly storage of material
• Pull materials from storage and deliver to production as needed
• Ensure customer order and product matches, packaging and labeling
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork
• Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures (5S) i.e. production floor, shipping & receiving office and warehouses as needed
• Notify supervisor of low inventory supply in a timely manner
• Release material to production areas
• Assist with basic assemblies as needed as directed by Supervisor
• Production paperwork ensuring that Lot number and skid numbers are entered on production report and ensure labels are verified
• Ensure that daily Hilo check lists are completed
• Operate bailers as required
• Maintain all returnable items and report status to supervisor
• Back-up to Shipping & Receiving i.e. stage shipments, handle expedites as needed and process required shipping paperwork
• Awareness of TS16949 and ISO 14001 standards
• Other Duties as required

• Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma. One to three years of related experience preferred.
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills
• Must demonstrate attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task with ease
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, volume and apply concepts of basic algebra
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions and procedure manuals

• PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• The employee will be working in a production environment
• Requires the ability to operate various tools and equipment to include computers, hand truck and various small hand tools
• The employee is occasionally required to: walk, sit, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, use foot/feet to operate machine
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds (i.e. carpet rolls)
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
• May occasionally work outside in various weather conditions
• In the performance of the job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts
