We are a rapidly growing organization in the Little Falls, NJ area. We are seeking to hire a Process Engineer with food manufacturing experience to join our team of progressive professionals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following responsibilities:

Job Summary:

The Process Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, optimizing, and managing the production processes within our food and ingredient manufacturing facility. Their expertise will contribute to the efficient and safe production of high-quality food products. The Process Engineer will assist with plant operations according to business necessities and assigned process development work.

Job Responsibilities:

Process Optimization and Development:

Conduct research to develop new and improved processes for food manufacturing.

Optimize existing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.

Work with Epic and Ops team to design more efficient processes for powder blending, ensuring compliance with FDA, cGMP, and OSHA requirements.

Review all current equipment and future equipment to ensure it meets needs of company, ensure change management and safety is key priorities

Create a list of priorities for all areas for improvement. Build a project management team to upgrade or review processes

Carry out root cause analysis for issues emanating from plant operations

Build and implement a formal preventive maintenance program for all equipment; work with operations to create a 2-month schedule for projects (capex and PM)

Safety and Compliance:

Establish safety procedures for individuals working with hazardous chemicals or equipment.

Evaluate processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.

Equipment Design and Layout:

Design and plan equipment layout for production lines.

Collaborate with engineering teams to select and install new equipment.

Troubleshoot problems associated with manufacturing processes and equipment. Process Engineers take a hands-on approach to their job, including operating process equipment and working closely with technicians and operations staff as required bringing assigned projects to completion

This individual will be expected to contribute to technical problem solving for customers, both internally and externally, process design and development, process analysis and scale-up, and materials physical properties and their effects on processing

Testing and Monitoring:

Conduct tests and monitor process performance throughout production.

Analyze data to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.

Ensure consistent product quality by monitoring critical process parameters.

Cost Estimation and Efficiency:

Estimate production costs related to process changes or improvements.

Implement cost-effective solutions to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

Continuously evaluate and refine processes to achieve operational excellence.

Ensure confidentiality is maintained regarding sensitive documents

Follow established record retention guidelines

Proposes process improvements for the department/company

Performs the job while adhering to all company policies and procedures

Performs other duties as necessary or assigned

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.

Proven experience as a Process Engineer in food manufacturing or a similar industry.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Knowledge of food safety regulations

Proficiency in process simulation software

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Basic/Intermediate proficiency using MS Suite (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Ability to maintain/handle confidential information

Must be detail oriented

Must be self-motivated and work successfully as part of a team
