Division: Integrated Services for Newcomers 

Program: Wellness & Active Communities- Health Education Projects

Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time (21 hours per week)

Reports to: Project Coordinator 

Job Summary:

The Project Facilitator is responsible for developing and revising workshop curricula and related resources of Health Education Projects. This includes facilitating culturally-appropriate health education and awareness workshops, securing subject-matter experts for workshops, and providing follow-up support to participants. This position also outreaches to diverse immigrant communities as a part of the project marketing efforts.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Facilitation

  • Designs and revises culturally-appropriate and multi-lingual workshop curricula and related resource materials
  • Enhances immigrants’ awareness and understanding of various health topics (e.g. vaccination programs) and related health risk factors
  • Secures subject-matter experts (SMEs) as presenters
  • Organizes and facilitates culturally-appropriate and multi-lingual workshops for immigrants
  • Follows up with workshop participants by providing individual support and referrals to community resources
  • Develops and maintains an up-to-date database of culturally-appropriate resources/services for immigrants in the community
  • Ensures all service provided meets service standards, aligns with best practices, and are consistent with the agency’s philosophy

Administration

    • Collects data and prepares monthly and ad-hoc reports
    • Administers pre and post workshop assessments to measure changes in client knowledge and skills
    • Collects feedback from clients and prepares summary and analysis of findings
    • Communicates and outreaches with community service providers and immigrant communities for marketing and client referrals
    • Participates in community meetings, events, communities of practice, and training, as well as research and evaluation activities
    • Participates in Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) activities
    • Performs other related duties as instructed by the Project Coordinator

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Health Services or related discipline
  • Experience in facilitation, preferably for immigrant communities
  • Experience working in a community health service environment preferred
  • Experience working with diverse client population groups
  • Knowledge and understanding of local health and community resources for diverse immigrant communities
  • Knowledge of communicable diseases (e.g. COVID-19 (pathology, vaccination, risks, social determinants of health, and healthy immigrant effect)) is an asset
  • Knowledge of individual and systemic barriers/challenges that impacts the health and well-being of immigrants

Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Second language in Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean or Farsi an asset
  • Excellent individual and group facilitation skills
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Ability to communicate with diverse immigrant communities
  • Ability to foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive service environment
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work
  • Ability to leverage community resources to support clients
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

  • Criminal Record Check Required
  • Able to work at multiple locations in Greater Vancouver as required
