Salary: $20 per hour

Test Technician:
This is a hands-on role that primarily involves setting up and performing tests, as part of either durability or safety teams.
Technicians work on projects from start to finish which involves:
  • Interpreting technical specifications
  • Accurately preparing and setting up test articles and fixtures/vehicles (requires kneeling and heavy lifting)
  • Evaluating the performance of test articles using measurements and sensors
  • Documenting detailed test procedures
  • Communicating with supervisors and customers in a clear and timely manner
  • Organizing and prioritizing tasks to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Extended hours may be required due to test schedules
Other responsibilities may include:
  • Monitoring and maintaining test equipment
  • Collaborating with other MGA facilities to maintain consistent operating practices and introduce
improvements throughout the company
This is an entry-level position. Successful applicants will be able to learn quickly and sometimes work
independently. This is a fast-paced environment that requires multi-tasking and communication. All the tasks are
hands-on and requires a basic level of mechanical skills.
Required Qualifications
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems independently
  • Experience with basic hand and power tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • General computer skills (Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word)
Preferred Qualifications
  • General understanding of automotive parts and mechanics
  • Welding experience
  • Hi-lo experience
  • Experience with basic fabrication tools (band saw, drill press, etc.)
  • General understanding of fasteners (metric/standard)
Specific Group Descriptions and Skills:
Safety (Static) – Most tests are performed to specific government regulations in a static environment. Equipment used involves servo hydraulic actuators, load cells, string potentiometers, LVDT’s and a variety of test related load applicators. Setups typically include securing steel fixtures or vehicle bodies to a t-slot plate, installation of seats and
their components, positioning test samples, calibration of sensors with the controller, and video camera setup. Post test/tear down includes removing samples and fixtures from the bed plate, data analysis, general cleanup, and prepping items to be shipped. Some tests are custom, with no guidance available, these tests are performed using good judgement and critical thinking. Helpful skills: knowledge of basic hand tools and some power tools (Sawzall, grinder, drill), welding, crane operation, basic math principles, sewing machine operation etc.
Hydraulic Durability (HD) – HD is broken into two sub groups, Component and MAST. The Component group typically deals with chassis and suspension parts while MAST tests a mix of interior and exteriors parts. Technicians hired for this group will be shared between both sub groups. Both sub groups use servo hydraulic actuators primarily in combination with load cells or accelerometers. Setups typically include installing vehicle parts onto steel or aluminum fixture and then securing them to a t-slot bed plate or MAST table top. Installation and maintenance of hydraulic equipment, fixture fabrication/modification, and general setup troubleshooting is required. Upon test completion, typical tasks include removal of samples and fixtures, general cleanup and prepping items to be shipped. Lab cleanliness, organization and confidentiality also is essential with tasks including keeping the floor and t-slots clear of oil and dirt, organizing test samples in boxes or on shelves, concealing samples from general view and returning equipment, tools or test parts to their proper location.
Shift:
1st shift MONDAY - FRIDAY
8:00am - 5:00pm OR 7:00am - 4:00pm (depending which group)
45-50 hours per week
Pay:
$20/hour for entry level
