RWJBarnabas Health is Hiring a Chief Engineer Near Newark, NJ

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is hiring for a Chief Engineer Position for Newark Beth Israel. This is a Full-Time, Day position.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school or trade school Diploma
  • 3 years experience on Industrial boilers required
  • Must hold a valid Blue Seal or greater NJ Stationary Engineer License
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in Industrial Maintenance capacity.
  • Must be capable of distinguishing and identifying colors.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Minimum training of six months after initial departmental orientation required.
  • Valid NJ Drivers License required.

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable remove when posting):

  • Valid NJ Drivers License required.
  • Must hold a valid Blue Seal or greater NJ Stationary Engineer License

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 7:00am - 3:00PM each day
  • Monday through Friday
  • Full Time

Essential Functions:

  • The Lead Stationary Engineer is responsible for coordinating the operations and efforts of the Boiler Room.
  • The Lead Stationary Engineer shall be capable of performing all duties of the Stationary Engineers, such as but not limited to, observing Boiler Room equipment, meters and gauges to ensure that the operation is in accordance with the regulations and specific instructions.
  • He/she shall record these observations on appropriate log sheets.
  • The Lead Stationary Engineer shall clean and repair boilers, blow tubes and discharge sediment, regulate feed water and condensate pumps, lubricate equipment, perform work such as repack valves as needed, change piping, clean and paint in boiler room as needed.
  • The Lead Stationary Engineer shall also perform minor repairs such as replacing work gaskets, tightening joints, and replacing defective meters.
  • The Lead Stationary Engineer is responsible for keeping logs on each boiler and emergency generator, logging results, reactions, etc.
  • The Lead Stationary Engineer also operates and maintains the hospital s main air conditioning system as well as the emergency generators.
  • May also participate in snow removal as necessary. The Lead Stationary Engineer is trained to make adjustments and changes to the computer controlled environmental system through the use of data as needed.
  • The Lead Stationary Engineer shall perform repairs of equipment and systems as well as monitor chemicals, filters and other supplies and order as needed.
  • The Lead Stationary Engineer changes filters on a cycle in accordance with established preventative maintenance schedule.
  • He/she assigns work and schedules shifts for Stationary Engineers.
  • The Lead Stationary Engineer checks the work of the stationary engineer as directed by department management to ensure proper accomplishment of work and maintains records indicating operation of boilers and emergency generators.
  • Assures compliance with hospital and department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control, compliance codes and requirements of accreditation as well as regulatory agencies. Schedules Boiler inspections and accompanies inspectors.
  • Assists and follows Project Coordinator work assignments to meet hospital needs. Maintains close line of communication between Director, Project Coordinator and Staff.
  • Boiler Room Emergency Procedure Responsibilities
  • Power Failure Walk outside to the Emergency Room lot. If it s not on, pull a breaker to turn it on.
  • No air supply for the Emergency Room climb to roof to Air Handler.
  • No air volume for 4E Walk upstairs to 5E Mech room.
  • No air volume for 4C, 4A, 4B Walk up 2 sets of stairs to 6A Mech room.
  • Steam leak on a Boiler Shut off headers on each Boiler (3 on each side).
  • Steam, H2O, Gas Leak in the Boiler Climb a ladder for shut off to make area safe.
  • Leak on the Boiler Room Towers Must climb a ladder to the roof H2O lines and a sand filter.
