RWJBarnabas Health is Hiring an Administrative Director Surgical Services Full Time Day Near Newark, NJ

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing a team of healthcare professionals, preferably in an ambulatory setting
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of EMR; i.e. EPIC/Cerner
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in nursing in a hospital setting

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare, or a related field

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
  • BLS from the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full Time
  • Day Shift, 35 hours per week
  • Monday Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation if applicable

Essential Functions:

The Administrative Director of Surgical Services will provide clinical and administrative support for the Department of Surgery and assign ambulatory practices. Reports to the Vice President of Ambulatory and collaborates with the Department Chair. The Administrative Director of Surgical Services with strong clinical and business acumen will provide outstanding patient service, grow the service line, develop leadership, and manage resources. He/She will be responsible for maintaining strong physician and administration relationships.

  • Serves as a strategic partner and works with Assistant Vise President and Department Chair to support the goals of the practice enterprise and further the mission of RWJBH/Newark Beth Israel Medical Center regionalization strategy.
  • Works with the Department Chair to help recruit, develop and retain the clinical leadership and management team; facilitate onboarding of all recruits
  • To provide clinical leadership and achieve operational efficiencies for assigned ambulatory clinics, includes budget preparation and administration, strategic planning, personnel management, revenue cycle management, and outstanding patient service.
  • Maintains open communication with physicians, staff and leadership. Communicates effectively with team members regarding health care initiatives as wells as departmental activities to ensure staff inclusions and engagement.
  • Champions, models, and promote service excellence philosophies and behaviors within ambulatory practices and hospital-related services to enhance the overall patient experience.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements (DOH, OSHA, TJC, HIPPA, CMS, etc.)

Other Duties:

Patient experience: Maintains positive relationships with all patients, employees, physicians, visitors, and guests. Utilizes a variety of feedback to improve processes and services to meet and exceed customer needs. It uses sound employee relations practices and maintains high levels of visibility and accessibility. Follows through all customer requests and inquiries in a timely fashion. Makes recommendations to the senior team regarding improvement strategies through program development.

Quality Management: Utilizes principles of CQI in all work situations. Seeks feedback and recommendations from others to improve quality, processes and services. Contributes to improving quality services and productivity (takes the initiative to continually evaluate one s work, report problems, suggest solutions and try new ideas) Plans and conducts meetings with department leaders to review trends and strategies to improve patient and employee experience. Assumes a role as lead for all RCA and ACA work and partners with the Medical Staff Office in the peer review process.

Safety Together: Provide expert knowledge, leadership and mentoring in patient safety & quality initiatives utilizing safety and high reliability science. Strategize with personnel at all levels to develop and coordinate patient safety programs. Provide coaching and hands-on support of quality and safety strategies.

Sustainability: Determines priorities and organizes work and time to meet them. Follows sound employee retention techniques; tactfully and diplomatically interacts with others and resolves conflicts effectively. Demonstrates cultural competency and ability to maintain a diverse workforce

Execution: Completes tasks and assignments in a timely, accurate and efficient manner. Remains positive and focused despite obstacles and setbacks. Demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing assignments. Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously to accomplish goals.
