The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School seeks to employ an open rank IBD Gastroenterologist.
This position offers the opportunity for the potential faculty member to train and mentor medical students while providing a full range of IBD gastroenterological services and treatments at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at New Brunswick. The faculty member will work directly with patients to best understand their needs in order to test, diagnose and treat patients as required, as well as work with patients’ primary physicians and other relevant physicians to arrive at a workable medical strategy for the gastroenterological concerns. Some duties may include: general gastroenterology, management of Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and indeterminate colitis, develop IBD-focused clinical research studies, and other gastroenterology procedures.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at New Brunswick is part of the RWJBarnabas Health System. The affiliation of Rutgers Health and RWJ/Barnabas Health, the largest health system in NJ, presents exciting opportunities for growth and expansion of the gastroenterology program. The integrated health system (RWJBarnabas) is a $5 billion enterprise and cares for about 40% of all NJ residents.

The Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is comprised of approximately 150 paid and more than 300 volunteer faculty members organized into 11 divisions covering the major medical subspecialties: Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases; Cardiovascular Diseases and Hypertension; Education; Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition; Gastroenterology and Hepatology; General Internal Medicine; Hematology; Medical Oncology; Nephrology; Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine; and Rheumatology.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to receive an updated (bivalent) vaccine dose. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
