Russell Law Offices S.C. is Hiring a Criminal Defense Attorney Near Dodgeville, WI

Position Overview:

We are growing! Russell Law Offices is seeking a skilled and passionate Criminal Defense Attorney to join our team based out of our Dodgeville location (serving clients in Iowa, Grant, Lafayette, Richland and Sauk Counties.) The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in criminal defense law and a strong commitment to upholding justice and defending the rights of our clients. As a Criminal Defense Attorney, you will be responsible for representing clients in various criminal proceedings, providing legal counsel, conducting research, and advocating on behalf of clients in court.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Represent clients in criminal proceedings, including arraignments, hearings, trials, and appeals.

2. Provide legal counsel and advice to clients regarding their rights and options including conducting trials.

3. Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop effective defense strategies.

4. Prepare and draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, pleadings, and other court filings.

5. Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors and advocate for favorable outcomes for clients.

6. Conduct interviews with clients, witnesses, and law enforcement officers to gather evidence and build strong cases.

7. Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff to ensure comprehensive representation for clients.

8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, documentation, and correspondence.

9. Stay informed about changes in criminal law, legal precedents, and courtroom procedures.

10. Uphold ethical standards and professional conduct in accordance with legal regulations and firm policies.

Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

2. Admission to the Wisconsin State Bar and eligibility to practice law in the state of Wisconsin.

3. Minimum of one year of experience practicing criminal defense law.

4. Strong understanding of criminal law, court procedures, and legal principles.

5. Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.

6. Effective oral communication and advocacy abilities.

7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

8. Demonstrated commitment to client advocacy and justice.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience handling a variety of criminal cases, including misdemeanors and felonies.

2. Prior courtroom experience, including trial and appellate advocacy.

3. Familiarity with local court rules and procedures in Wisconsin.

4. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred but not required).

Benefits:

1. Competitive salary commensurate with experience and aggressive bonus structure based on performance. Minimum range of $75,000-175,000
