Ruoff Mortgage Company Inc is Hiring a Loss Mitigation Underwriter Near Fort Wayne, IN

Position Summary
The Loss Mitigation Underwriter to join our Default Team. In this role, you will report to the Client Assistance Manager and will have an opportunity to contribute towards finding solutions for maintaining home ownership and provide delinquency support throughout the lifecycle of a delinquent loan.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Represent the company in a professional and enthusiastic manner by providing an exceptional level of client service, supporting the mission statement, and adhering to our core values in all functions of their job responsibilities and interaction with internal and external clients.
  • Perform various scheduled tasks according to monthly scorecard reporting, exception reporting, and workflow tracking reports.
  • Complete the underwriting review of mortgage assistance applications in accordance with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA guidelines.
  • Assist other Client Assistance team members in independently managing a pipeline of delinquent loans ensuring adherence to all mandatory investor timelines.
  • Collaborate with Mortgage Default Specialists to ensure proper communication is provided to enhance the client experience and communicate that information to the default underwriter.
  • Demonstrated a thorough understanding of credit risk analysis and collateral valuations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Review borrower(s) financial information and documentation including paystubs, W-2's, tax returns, profit and loss statements, and complete essential calculations in the underwriting process. Including Debt to Income ratio and other calculations.
  • Assist in completing loss mitigation options such as repayments plans, forbearances, deferments, loan modifications, short sales, and deed in lieu of foreclosure.
  • Monitor forbearance plan and trial loan modification payments.
  • Obtain, analysis, and review title reports and credit reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required
  • In-depth understanding of the life cycle of a delinquent loan
  • Experience reading and comprehending investor guidelines, policies, procedures and regulations
  • Analytical, problem solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills as well as attention to detail
  • Proficient in e-mail management, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work a Flexible schedule, Monday through Friday
  • Ability to work to weekends, if needed
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
Experience and Training
Required
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Associates Degree or higher in business, finance, or accounting preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Minimum (1) or more years of mortgage collection experience
  • Knowledge of mortgage default and loss mitigation
  • Understanding of loan modification process, knowledge of loss mitigation waterfall and default related workout options
Preferred
  • Prior Mortgage Default Experience
  • Mortgage servicing system experience in MSP.
Job Dimensions
  • Reports to: Loan Servicing Early Stage Supervisor
  • Internal Relationships: Finance team and management, Servicing team, Origination team and management, Compliance team and management, Audit team and management
  • External Relationships: Ruoff clients, third-party servicers, and third-party vendors

Physical Demands:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
