RSG International is Hiring an Assistant Controller Near Pittsburgh, PA

RoadBlock Solutions, a division of RSG International, is a leading provider and distributor of innovative safety products aimed at keeping roads, work zones, and people safe. We sell and rent a variety of road safety devices for the North American infrastructure market.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Assistant Controller is responsible for managing and directing the financial activities of the organization. This role involves overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls to ensure the financial health and integrity of the company.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain Asset Depreciation Schedules for monthly accumulated depreciation of assets including additions. Also, must account for gain/loss on disposals
  • Facilitate the financial audit process with prompt responses to audit requests and on time completion of the final audit report.
  • Prepare annual budgets for the consolidated group of companies as well as each supporting location.
  • Facilitate the annual renewal of commercial insurance policies as well as the corresponding audits for GL and WC. (Possible this will be handled corporately)
  • Reconcile corporate bank accounts.
  • Manage cash position of the business including daily cash reports, weekly cash forecasts and monthly borrowing base reporting and forecasts.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable for accuracy as well as monthly reconciliations.
  • Oversee weekly payroll reports and monthly payroll remittances for accuracy. Ensure that all remittances are processed on time.
  • Ensure that accounting processes and documentation meets corporate governance and audit standards, safeguarding of assets and reliability of financial statements and to detect fraud and errors.
  • Analyze, implement, and improve policies, procedures, and controls, related to financial reporting.
  • Foster positive relationships with both external and internal stakeholders
  • Stay updated on federal, state, and local financial regulations and ensure compliance with tax laws, reporting requirements, and other financial obligations.
Project Accounting Specific Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the job costing system, ensuring an optimal structure that supports both financial and operational analysis and insight.
  • Ensure accuracy of job transactions including allocations, cash disbursements, accruals, and revenue recognition practices
  • Develop and maintain monthly job analysis and reporting. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • CPA (or equivalent) desired but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in the Construction Industry an asset
  • Experience working in a multi-company environment.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop a team.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
