Job Description

• Tend machines that shred and/or compresses and binds paper by-products generated from the print manufacturing process to facilitate disposition of the waste materials
• Thread tie bands around bale and twists or clamps ends of bands to tighten bands
• Opens compression chamber doors and removes bale from machine
• Truck bales to storage location using air lifts, pallet jacks or hoist trucks
• Complete daily forklift condition report
• Weigh the bales and keep records of the gross weight, materials grade of the bales
• Perform routine maintenance on the baling machinery and remove obstructions in the cyclone as needed
• May load bales on trucks for disposal and complete shipping manifest
• May photograph container and seal for verification purposes
• Pick or package a variety of printed materials or print related items that require a limited variety of packing procedures and techniques. May use handheld scanners or paper logs to document any change in inventory to ensure warehouse information is up to date.
• Ensure that accurate quantity and kind of inventory remains stocked in warehouse bins, floors, or shelves.
• Perform related tasks such as placing labels on packages, putting manuals into binders, and handling boxes for final product. Ensure accurate shipping information is attached and packages are shipped according to specified schedule.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Assist with periodic review of inventory as well as perform physical inventory when required.
• May feed, remove, flex, jog, and stack printed sheets, folded signatures, labels or other in-process product to and from the equipment in the area assigned. Load and unloads materials onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, or other device.
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment
• Requires knowledge of standard set ups, adjustments and operating characteristics of the equipment and skill to perform standard adjustments and operate the equipment
• Ability to set up, operate, and perform basic adjustments to the equipment according to the individual job requirements, operating characteristics, and capabilities of the equipment
• Ability to safely operate Powered Industrial Vehicles, required
• Job requires the ability to lift 20-50 pounds, occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently. Must be able to use a ladder to pick items or store inventory

Additional Information

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $15.35 - $18.79 / hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
