Job Description

• Assist teacher in providing small group and individual instruction to monolingual and/or ELL students.
• Assist teaching personnel in all areas of their work.
• Operate various pieces of equipment, ie, copy machines, video equipment, computers, etc.
• Assist individual monolingual and/or ELL students in teacher-monitored classrooms.
• Work closely with ELL Instructional Coach to monitor and document the progress of ELL students.
• The educational assistant will be responsible to the building principal.
• Provide for students’ safety.
• Provide activities and instruction for monolingual and/or ELL students as planned by the teacher or ELL Instructional Coach.
• Assist with maintaining discipline.
• Assist monolingual or ELL students in other classes as necessary.
• Daily supervision of students in the cafeteria, including the creation of activities for students.
• Must meet PESB requirements for the Fundamental Course of Study.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School graduate, or GED.
• AA degree, or 48-semester credits or 72-quarter credits from an institution of higher education, or have successfully passed the Washington State Academic Assessment Praxis II Para Pro Test (WASST).
• Dependable, trustworthy, experience working with children and adults, good time manager, initiative.
• Must meet state requirements for COVID 19 vaccination or an exemption to the COVID 19 vaccination as a condition of employment by the first day of work or October 18, 2021, whichever is later.
• Bilingual Required

Terms of Employment

Starting Date: 2021-22 School Year

Salary: Per 2021-22 PSE – Salary Schedule

Hours: 6.50 hrs/day – 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.
