Job Assignment Title Elementary School Chorus Director Extracurricular Schedule Appendix B1 - Elementary - 2022-23 rate is $2,647.97 Minimum three (3) concerts each year Division/Department Teaching and Learning Reports to This job assignment receives administrative direction from the Principal or other building administrator as assigned. Summary of Assignment This job assignment is accountable for directing the chorus, teaching and acquainting students with the skills needed to perform vocally, and demonstrating how music relates to students' everyday life. Minimum Education and Experience
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
Employment in this class is conditional upon possession of a valid Illinois State Board of Education teaching certificate appropriate to the teaching assignment.

Attends meetings and in-services as required;
Conducts and accompanies students;
Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students;
Designs show order;
Effectively manages individual student behavior to maintain a good learning environment;
Ensures safety of students;
Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with parents through effective use of interim reports, report cards, and conferences
Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents;
Maintains accurate and complete records;
Maintains accurate records for equipment setups and tear-downs for individual accountability;
Maintains respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., audition ratings, health restrictions;
Makes contacts with the public using tact and diplomacy;
Makes provision for being available to students and parents during scheduled practices or as otherwise arranged;
Notifies parents if student is not meeting goals/expectations;
Observes ethics of the teaching profession;
Organizes music for programs;
Plans for and directs a minimum of three (3) concerts during the school year;
Plans music that will work for particular voices;
Provides for supervision of all practices and performances;
Provides guidance to students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational development;
Responds to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner;
Schedules and plans all concerts and performances;
Selects appropriate music for school level participation;
Serves as a role model for students;
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities;
Teaches and evaluates the students using sound instructional practices;
Teaches students harmony;
Teaches students vocal production and stage presence;
Teaches vocal technique, listening skills, music reading skills, poise, and self-confidence to students;
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical and Mental Requirements Individuals appointed to these assignments must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the assignment.
