Job Description Site Coordinator
PURPOSE OF POSITION
- To provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children to receive child care and recreation.
- To maintain a safe and healthy environment.
- To promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
of the children.
- To facilitate parent and program communications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet the needs of all children; including those who are at risk, those with
special needs, those who are gifted, and those who are culturally diverse.
- Implement recreational activity plans, which promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of the children.
- Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small and large group
experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor
activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between
activities.
- Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation,
socialization, and choice-making; ask open-ended questions and listens
respectfully to the answers.
- Provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement
in the classroom.
- Work with the school and ROSCCO in developing specialized plans if
needed.
- Coordinate support for students with special needs in the classroom and
develop a collaborative approach that benefits all children.
- Supervise and monitor children at all times.
- Respond to crisis or emergency situations that may occur.
- Provide first aid or CPR, prevent the spread of blood borne pathogens,
and access emergency services as needed.
- Maintain accurate reports and records related to program operation and
licensing.
- Participate in team meetings as needed to plan for and deliver
collaborative services across all components.
- Other duties as requested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of human development, family dynamics, and the needs of
children.
- Experience with children and families who may be at risk, have special needs or gifted, and come from culturally diverse populations.
- Ability to apply Early Childhood Development, Education or Human Development theory in daily classroom activities.
- Excellent communications skills, especially good listening skills.
- Competency in practicing healthy environment procedures.
