Before & After School Programs Group / Activity Leaders & Assistants / Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children to receive child care and recreation.

To maintain a safe and healthy environment.

To promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of the children.

To facilitate parent and program communications.

Minimum Qualifications

Activity Leaders & Assistants : Candidate will be at least 16 years of age, attended at least 2 years of high school, will possess a strong desire to work well with children, and must submit Medical and Criminal Record Clearances.

PayScale $16.00 to $18.00 per hour

Group Leaders & Assistants : Candidate will be at least 18 years of age, has at least 1 year of college or 1 year of related experience with children, will possess a strong desire to work well with children, and must submit Medical and Criminal Record Clearances.

PayScale $18.00 to $21.00 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Meet the needs of all children; including those who are at risk, those with special needs, those who are gifted, and those who are culturally diverse.
• Help to implement all elements of the AfterSchool program.
• Assist in the implementation of recreational activity plans, and promotes the social , emotional, physical, and cognitive development of the children.
• Supervise group activities to reflect the unique needs of the children
• Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities.
• Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice-making; ask open-ended questions and listen respectfully to the answers.
• Supervise and monitor children at all times.
• After specialized training, provide first aid or CPR and practice Universal precautions in order to prevent the spread of blood borne pathogens, and access emergency services as needed.
• Helps maintain accurate reports and records related to program operation and licensing.
• Participates in team meetings as needed to plan for and deliver collaborative services across all components.
• Other duties as requested.
