Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science is Hiring a Registered Nurse Near North Chicago, IL

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care to patients, within an ambulatory clinic setting, in accordance with professional standards and practices, as well as Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics policies and procedures. Specifically, the Registered Nurse role would be responsible for supporting the daily clinical operation needs of our Reproductive Immunology program, including patient education, outpatient procedural support and sterile set-up, and infusion support needs. The physicians of RFUHC are innovators in their fields, offering patients access to the latest discoveries in podiatry, behavioral health and reproductive medicine.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Function as primary liaison between patient and referring physician and APP providers.
  • Prepare equipment to be utilized by physician during exam, assist during treatment(s), examination, and testing of patients. 
  • Support medication dispense process as directed, including processing required prior authorizations, coordination of delivery, and administration of medications as ordered. 
  • Prepare educational materials and provide education to patient/family about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness. 
  • Provide timely follow-up with laboratory tests; notifying patients of results; maintain and review patient records and other pertinent information to ensure thoroughness.
  • Performs and maintains intravenous access and infusions of Intravenous immunoglobulin. 
  • Supports in office procedures (i.e. Sterile field set-up and support for biopsies, in-office hysteroscopies, etc.) including pre-procedure, post-procedure recovery, and during procedure as needed. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or delegated. 

Conditions of Employment

Required Education & Experience

  • Associates degree or equivalent
  • Current/unrestricted Illinois RN or BSN licensure, BLS certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Phlebotomy and Intravenous access/management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an obstetrics/gynecology department, fertility, maternal fetal medicine, or endocrinology office.
  • 1-year prior experience within an ambulatory surgical center or within an Operating room setting. 
  • Minimum of 1-year circulating experience within and OBGYN specialty.
  • 2 years’ experience supporting OBGYN/MFM procedures in either a ambulatory surgical center or inpatient operating room setting. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS certification
