Seeking a Dedicated Full-Time Social Studies Teacher

ROSA, a collaborative learning experience that boosts confidence, builds cognizance, and provides critical, creative, and real-world skills.

The Job: ROSA is seeking a dedicated and innovative full-time educator, either experienced in the field of social studies or new to teaching, who values autonomy in the classroom and believes all students deserve a quality education. You must be hard-working and adaptable, able to introduce secondary content and concepts while reinforcing foundational skills, and eager to collaborate with a small team to meet the student’s unique needs and nourish their boundless potential.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid Secondary Social Studies Teaching Credential (or a willingness to receive one)
  • Experience with behavioral disorders
  • Comfortable working with a diverse, historically underserved student population and sympathetic to all unique learning needs
  • One-year experience

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree
  • Teaching experience at the secondary level
  • Reading Specialization
  • Background in behavioral strategies
  • Knowledge of specialized methodologies for curriculum design and classroom instruction
  • Willing to incorporate experiential, experimental, hands-on, project-based, and cross-curricular approaches and opportunities in courses

Performance Responsibilities:

Design Courses

  • Design an array of courses, Citizenship and Government, Economics, Geography, United States History, World History, and Psychology, in the discipline of social studies

Classes:

  • Establish and manage a welcoming class environment that is inclusive and equitable
  • Provide clear grading criteria or a rubric for each course
  • Post assignments online and regularly update scores
  • Lead respectful and appropriate classroom discussions
  • Supervise and collaborate with educational support professionals in the classroom
  • Conference with students one-on-one

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Co-Advise a Homeroom - mentor a group of 15 - 20 students from their first day to graduation
  • Maintain open communication with the staff

Salary and Benefits:
