The Finance team (15± people) at Room & Board is currently hiring a Financial Analyst at our central office in Golden Valley. In this role, you will join a 4-person financial planning and reporting team that values curiosity, a commitment to deep relationships with the business individual accountability, and work/life balance.

The finance team collectively manages the accounting functions, produces the monthly financial reporting packages and also plays a vital role in protecting the company’s intellectual and physical assets. They identify core measures that are fundamental to understanding the health of our business allowing us to be nimble as we adjust our plans and attain successful outcomes.

Work Location:

4600 Olson Memorial Highway, Golden Valley, MN (off Hwy 100 & 55)

We offer a hybrid work schedule with 3 days per week in the office.

You’ll share your talents in the following ways: as a financial analyst

You bring the confidence in your profession to build meaningful relationships and deliver insightful financial analysis and useful reporting that drives a positive impact on the decisions made by leaders and staff members alike.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Coordinate budget and forecast processes using Room & Board’s financial reporting system (Planful) including the creation and review of budgets.
  • Proactively collaborate with internal business partners on forecast adjustments, tracking actual results to ensure that forecasts and plans are completed on time and within budget. This role would work primarily with delivery and distribution partners*, though additional collaboration between Central and Retail teams will ensure both a full picture of Room & Board’s financial positions while additionally driving cross functional capabilities and experiences.
  • Support the ongoing education of planning tools with delivery partners.

* Our delivery partners represent a team of talented leaders who oversee 14 delivery and 2 storage/distribution centers located throughout the country. The delivery function is core to our business and key in driving the P&L. 

Process and Partnership

  • Coordination, review, and analysis of all distribution related month-end financial packages.
  • Partner with others in the organization to analyze business processes and educate others about financial data and planning tools.
  • Increase productivity by automating applications, eliminating duplications, and coordinating information requirements.
  • Create, enhance, or maintain financial tools, models and reporting specific to areas of responsibility to enhance the monitoring of financial performance.
  • Create written and oral communication materials that effectively summarize findings, support fact-based recommendations and provide appropriate detail to substantiate conclusions.

Last, but not least, you bring the following education, work experience and skills:as a financial analyst

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting

  • 5-7 years of experience in Finance/Accounting

  • Exceptional systems experience using financial reporting systems that support business decisions

    • Experience with Planful is a benefit (Similar tools: Hyperion Financial Planning, Cognos)

  • Experience using online analytical processing (OLAP) systems, Spotlight specifically though experience with Essbase, TM1 or Cognos is equivalent.

  • Strong Excel user with knowledge and experience in pivot tables, lookups, sumifs, etc.

  • Prior experience with SAP preferred.

  • Detail oriented, with analytic and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to plan and complete assignments within deadlines.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills including educating and constructively challenging others

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
