RMHC NEO is currently seeking a highly motivated individual who possesses passion, compassion, and dedication as a Major Gifts Officer to support the efforts of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio, Inc.
The Volunteer Manager is responsible for managing individual and group volunteers at the Cleveland Ronald McDonald House and coordinating volunteer recruitment/outreach activities to support the successful operation and community awareness of volunteer needs at RMHC NEO. These duties include recruiting, scheduling, supervising, and recognizing volunteers; coordinating volunteer activities; and oversight of conference center rentals and message display boards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts all activities in a manner consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization.
- Recruits, interviews, screens, orients, onboards, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates all House volunteers. Screens and passes on prospective volunteers and meal groups to other volunteer managers as appropriate.
- Ensures the front desk functions consistently and efficiently with proper operational procedures and coverage for each shift.
- Monitors the common areas to ensure they are kept organized and tidy, and the guest rooms are prepped properly and in a timely manner.
- Assists, guides, and directs volunteers by answering questions, handling day-to-day issues, and troubleshooting problems that arise.
- Manages online forums to advertise volunteer opportunities. Collaborates and consults with other volunteer managers to determine open volunteer positions/shifts.
- Recruits and schedules volunteer groups to perform services (meal preparation, chores, family activities) at the Ronald McDonald House.
- Greets and orients groups (not including meal preparation groups) and directs them in their tasks.
- Follows up with volunteer groups, offers additional engagement opportunities, and refers groups to development team when appropriate.
- Recruits volunteers to help with projects and events benefiting RMHC NEO, as requested.
- Communicates and consults with Director, House Program on all serious issues.
- Keeps volunteers informed about House activities, fundraisers, policy and procedure changes, and other important news, through volunteer newsletter and other communications.
- Collaborates with other RMHC NEO volunteer managers to coordinate the planning and execution of volunteer recognition efforts.
- Organizes and/or conducts volunteer training sessions.
- Updates and maintains family activities calendar and volunteer records across all platforms in use.
- Prepares reports and statistics regarding volunteer program.
- Surveys individual and group volunteers regularly to assess volunteer program.
- Oversees conference center rentals and programming of electronic display monitors, with assistance from House Program Assistant.
- Establishes priorities for managing own work while staying on a focused, efficient path for achieving results.
- Acts as organizational ambassador and presents a positive image of RMHC NEO.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 200 Individual Regular Volunteers and some Group Volunteers
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED with 5 or more years of experience in a related field. Associate or bachelor's degree with 3 or more years of experience in related field a plus (e.g., human resources, volunteer management or nonprofit operations).
- Computer proficiency, including familiarity with all MS Office products and database software.
- Previous experience supervising volunteers preferred.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent customer service, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to respect and show hospitality to volunteers and guests from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to learn and use new software programs easily and effortlessly.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Excellent internal and external communication skills.
- Must be willing to pitch in and assist in areas that may not fall directly within this position’s stated responsibilities.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Regularly required to use vision, speech, and hearing to review volunteer applications and other data or documentation or to engage with others while in the course of daily work.
- Sitting, viewing computer monitors, and utilizing a computer keyboard.
- Must be able to walk, stand and climb stairs to perform House functions, oversee volunteers and interact with others.
- May be required to travel to other locations and community functions.
- Regularly required to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
