Rogue Community College is Hiring a SBDC Instructor - QuickBooks (Adjunct Faculty Pool) Near Grants Pass, OR

This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching part-time in the Small Business Development Center department. The pool will remain open until June 2024 unless positions are no longer needed. Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be contacted and interviewed as positions become available.

Instructor is required to work with an existing syllabus or create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the Small Business Development Center of Rogue Community College.

Supervision Received

The Director, in consultation with Small Business Development Center staff, is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by RCC Small Business Development Center (SBDC). The Director confers with these resources in decisions regarding instructor assignment and retention.

Course includes QuickBooks Beginning, QuickBooks Intermediate, Applying Desktop Procedures, a one-day Intensive and/or other QuickBooks instruction as agreed-upon (including in person and zoom options).
1. Provides hands-on QuickBooks instruction to students in a computer lab or facilitates course instruction via zoom, as agreed upon by the parties.
2. Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate. Materials may be produced at the RCC Small Business Development Center and/or distributed by e-mail.
3. At the end of each module, distributes and returns to the RCC SBDC a student course evaluation of the class. For virtual zoom classes, this evaluation will be completed by RCC SBDC staff.
4. Maintain attendance records and shares attendance with the RCC SBDC for tracking purposes.
5. Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed.
6. Represents the RCC Small Business Development Center and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner.
7. Responsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required. Instructor should be QuickBooks certified.  

Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.

Experience: Instructor must be knowledgeable in the subject matter and have sufficient expertise to adequately train the students. Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not necessarily mandatory.

Knowledge of: Tools for communication and learning, and may include multi-media presentations. Requires the ability to instruct small business clients via Zoom classroom software.

Ability to: Instruct students at their level of knowledge; develop curriculum, lecture, and assist the student through hands-on instruction; communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and students; work collaboratively as a member of Rogue Community College and the Small Business Development Center; demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching; participate in curriculum development; organize effective lessons; advise students; work with college and agency partners; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in both the classroom and related educational duties, including the use of new curriculum and technologies; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth. Pass a criminal background check.

Licenses: If required to drive on behalf of the college, must possess a valid Oregon Driver License and provide proof of an acceptable driving record.

For a typical Small Business Development Center course, manual dexterity and coordination are required during time spent instructing students in a classroom lab. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, see and walk as they teach.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is working indoors in a computer lab. In an indoor office environment the employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.

This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching in the SBDC department. The pool will remain open until June 2024 unless positions are no longer needed.
