Rogue Community College is Hiring an Electronics Technology - Adjunct Pool Near White, OR

Under general supervision, provides instruction to students in the classroom and lab settings, prepares syllabi and lesson plans. Assists the department chair with program goals and objectives. The instructor must possess the ability to teach all phases of the curriculum including in the online or hybrid-format. Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques; use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other record-keeping required; effective use of oral and written communication skills; and knowledge of current in-field procedures. Follows approved course syllabus. Assists the department chair with maintaining program requirements, attends/completes all professional development training; meet with students and college personnel to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues. Evaluates student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains accurate inventory of all assigned properties. Ability to set up test equipment and complete demonstrations within a flex-lab environment with multiple classes running simultaneously. Use effective strategies to assist students either planning on become entry-level test technicians or transfer to a university into an engineering program. Position will involve teaching high school dual enrollment and may also involve traditional day, online, and/or evening classes, and may require travel to high school and/or college campus locations within RCC’s service area.
 
Supervision Received
The dean, in consultation with the department chair is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president. The dean confers with the department chair in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels.
  1. Provides instructional and assessment activities to students using Blackboard and face-to-face flex-lab access to classrooms, lab tools and equipment, and components for Electronics program facilities. 
  2. Develops curriculum and assessments for classes that you are designated as the instructor of record.
  3. Demonstrate using electronics lab test equipment, tools, hardware, and software. 
  4. Provides electronics expertise to students with electronics-related course work. 
  5. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly lab environment. 
  6. Perform other duties as assigned. 
 Education & Experience: An Associate's Degree in Electronics or related field is required with 6 years of experience; or a bachelor’s in Electronics or related field and 2 years of industrial experience; or a Master’s degree in an Electronics Engineering or related field. Previous teaching experience is preferred at a community college.
 
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.
 
Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for the requirement(s). 
 
Licenses and Certificates: For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)). Current ASE Master Auto Technician certification in all eight automotive repair categories is required. Advanced level L1 ASE certification is desirable. Recent training certifications from multiple car manufactures are desirable.
 
Knowledge of: Electronics theory and applications necessary to support AAS-level lab curriculum, industry standard test procedures, lab test equipment, electronics supplies and components, electronics assembly tools and procedures, computer hardware and software including Microsoft Office Suite® products, and PC-based inventory control.
 
Skills: Verbal and written communication skills; and computer skills, preferably in Microsoft Office Suite® products; equipment usage and maintenance, and training skills
 
Ability to: Make decisions in accordance with established policies, regulations, and procedures. Use tools and equipment in electronics instruction, and computer hardware and software including Microsoft Office Suite®, technical software used in the program is preferred (i.e., Quartus Prime, AVRStudio, MultiSim, etc.) is required. Work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff. Communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse students, staff, and community members. Pass a criminal background check, which includes submitting a fingerprint-based Criminal History Verification to the Oregon Department of Education, then to the Oregon State Police and FBI for verification.

Manual dexterity and coordination are typically required over 50% of the work day and at times 100% while operating electronic equipment, computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to lift and/or move materials up to 25 lbs. frequently and 25-60 lbs. occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is typically in an electronic lab environment. The employee is frequently exposed to noise, dust, hazardous gases and vapors, and other hazards. The noise level in the work environment is typical of an electronic lab. Where appropriate, personal protective equipment will be issued and the employee will be trained in its proper application and use.
This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching part-time in the Electronics department. The application documents required include a cover letter, resume and unofficial transcripts. Compensation is based on the Rogue Community College 23-24 Adjunct Faculty Salary Schedule (Download PDF reader) (Download PDF reader).
