About Rocky Mountain Prep

Rocky Mountain Prep is a growing network of innovative public charter schools serving students and families in the Greater Denver Area. Rocky Mountain Prep (RMP) opened its first school in 2012 with 130 students and has grown to twelve schools, working with over 5,000 scholars in PreK through 12th grade across two districts. During the 2023-2024 school year, RMP is driving after five big goals:

  1. Going Green on the Colorado School Performance Framework
  2. 90% Student Persistence
  3. 95% Average Daily Attendance
  4. Fully Enrolled by October Count
  5. Academics:
    1. PreK Students demonstrate one year of growth
    2. Kinder through 2nd Grade Students grow 1.25 years in ELA and Math
    3. 40% of 3rd through 5th-grade students meet their Millionaire Goal (one million words read)
    4. 40% of 6th through 8th grade students meet their millionaire goal (two million words read)
    5. High school: 100% College Acceptance
 

Each member of the organization plays a part in achieving these goals. School-based staff members will work towards 2 or 3 metrics aligned to their individual roles AND the Big 5. These metrics vary by position and are subject to change for the 2022-2023 school year. As a (Director of Employee Engagement, you will be held accountable for some of these goals. 

 

The Opportunity

 

We’re a public charter school network that is building a movement! Our commitment to our scholars, families, and communities makes Rocky Mountain Prep (RMP) a unique place to work at a unique moment in time… We’re seeking exceptional talent to join us in this movement-building and inspiring work. We operate one child care center and 12 schools (5 ECE-elementary, five middle, and two high schools) across Denver, primarily in historic communities of color. Serving ~5,000 students with a focus on literacy, RMP is a special place to be for our 600 employees.

 

The PBA leads the network's “back of the house” (non-school-facing teams) functions and is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for the Organization’s Health. Our current Organizational Health Indicators and priorities include Organizational Effectiveness, Talent Planning, Employee Experience, and Strong Internal and External branding. 

 

The PBA portfolio of teams includes the:

  • People Experience Team (PXT) - Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Compensation, Network Culture, Performance, Learning and Development
  • Finance and Planning Team - Auditing, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Budgeting
  • Legal Affairs, Risk and Compliance (LARC) - Policies, Employee Relations, Title IX Investigations, Risk Assessment and Mitigation, Compliance, Mandatory Training
  • Information Technology (IT) - Network Infrastructure, Assessment Administration, Technology Administration, HelpDesk
  • *New Impact Office - People Development, Employee Engagement, Internal Communications, Culture, Project Integration across PBA teams, Change Management planning, PBA Operations support 
 

The Role

 

This position will report to the Special Assistant to the President of People and Business Administration (PBA). The Director of Employee Engagement will support the broader PBA team and network on various engagement initiatives, fully acknowledging that “engagement” encompasses a wide range of communication and change management work streams and approaches.

  • Employee engagement and effective communication are intrinsically linked, serving as the foundation for vibrant organizational culture and overall organizational health. 
  • Effective communication practices not only keep employees well-informed about the developments within the network, but also play a critical role in actively involving them in organizational processes and decision-making. 
  • This inclusivity fosters a sense of belonging and significance among employees, enhancing their engagement and commitment to the organization. Moreover, transparent and meaningful communication helps in building trust, which is essential for healthy organizational culture. 
  • When employees feel valued and informed, they are more likely to be engaged and motivated, contributing positively to our organizational culture.

  • Project Management Excellence: Exhibits in project management skills to both manage one’s own work streams and priorities as well as those of the PBA team and network. Capability to oversee multiple initiatives with attention to detail, ensuring engagement strategies are executed effectively and contribute positively to the employee experience.
 

Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field. Professional work experience and/or professional certifications will be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 5 years in a communications role with significant responsibilities in employee engagement, internal communications, or related functions. Demonstrated success in leading or significantly contributing to change management initiatives, with tangible results in employee understanding, adoption and/or buy-in.
  • Outstanding, compelling, and adaptive communications– written and verbal; dynamic facilitation and engagement skills. Experience with managing corporate, nonprofit, and/or education social media accounts and content creation for digital platforms.
  • Proven track record of effective collaboration with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and various stakeholders. Skills in analyzing engagement data and feedback to inform communication strategies and initiatives.

Compensation

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. RMP offers competitive employee benefits and paid time off. The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $120,000. 

This flexible position is based in Denver, CO. The Director will work from both home and the office, depending upon the nature of the work and the consideration that supporting the execution of this work may require work days and times that fall outside of traditional office hours (i.e., early mornings, weekends, and evenings as needed).
