TRANSITION TEACHER

Job Description & Qualifications

The Transition Teacher will provide comprehensive and specialized instruction to students. Instruction will
be provided across all environments including the classroom, community, building, and job site. The primary
goal of the Transition Program is to provide specialized instruction in an individual program for students in
order to empower them to become confident and productive members of their community. Dedicated to
helping our students envision and achieve their post-secondary goals through a well-planned and
coordinated process that is centered on the students’ strengths, interests and needs.

Salary Range: $53,778.00 - $73,049.00 (Salary is commensurate with educational degree and experience)
Bonus: 2nd year contract signing bonus available
Benefits: Full Medical benefits for employee (additional benefits available based on employee selection)
FLSA Statues: Exempt
Work Year: 188 days (includes 180 student contact days)

REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree in Deaf Education or School Social Worker degree

Responsibilities include:

• School-wide transition-related services such as College & Career Fairs
• Transport students via school activity bus or support with public transportation learning.
• Assist students registering for college tests (ACT, SAT); coordination of transition assessments and

• Write and implement Transition Services in the IEP
• Support Assistant Principal in ensuring academic credit requirements

• Teach a variety of classes that support students in both middle and high school with their career

exploration, including but not limited to Business Management, Consumer Math, Senior Seminar and
Graduation Capstone

• Teach and support with independent skills and personal responsibility within different classes
