ELEMENTARY TEACHER

Job Description & Qualifications

Located in the Colorado foothills, Rocky Mountain Deaf School is a high performing school providing education in
American Sign Language in a Preschool through 12 grade campus. RMDS is seeking a highly motivated and innovative
teacher of the Deaf to become part of a team dedicated to inspire every deaf student to think, to learn, to achieve
and to care!

Team members are responsible for instructing students in elementary grades. Creating instructional resources for use
in the classroom. Creating lesson plans, instructing students on core subjects such as science, literature, and math,
and creating a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional preparedness based on the Rocky Mountain Deaf School
curriculum.

Salary Range: $53,778.00 - $73,049.00 (Salary is commensurate with educational degree and experience)
Bonus: 2nd year contract signing bonus available
Benefits: Full Medical benefits for employee (additional benefits available based on employee selection)
FLSA Statues: Exempt
Work Year: 188 days (includes 180 student contact days)

REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree in Deaf Education.
• Colorado Standard or Provisional Teaching Licensure, with a Deaf Education endorsement (required by October

Teaching responsibilities include:

• Plan and implement effective instructional practices that maximize student learning.
• Follow a system of continuous evaluation of student progress consistent with established instructional objectives

• Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: ability to work at children’s level, ability to change diapers,

• Serve as an active member of our professional learning community. Collaborating with other educators on teams

• Communicate often with families regarding student progress.
• Maintain professional growth.
• Engage in action research for continuous improvement of instruction.
• Complete and follow IEP for each student assigned
