About the Position
The IT Consultant will participate and manage a variety of IT initiatives that help clients achieve their missions while teaching them sustainable ways to effectively achieve outcomes. Specific responsibilities may include:

  • IT strategy development, planning and implementation focused on enterprise goals, objectives and task
  • Development of a technology roadmap that aligns IT strategic initiatives with the agency business needs
  • Identifies cohesive metrics and monitoring components
  • Supports IT related Committees and Working Groups from opportunity definition, planning, agency engagement and execution
  • Collaborates with diversified stakeholders to develop business capability maps, process maps, value stream maps to meet organizational needs
  • Prepares reports, streamlines business processes, and documents project plans and processes
  • Monitors and explores industry and technology trends, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions to assess applicability and viability for state agencies
  • Captures the current state of the client mission and recommend best practice alternatives for a future state
  • Help define, create, test, and execute operations procedures
  • Design, develop, and/or present client deliverables, applying basic consulting principles and frameworks (may include creating the deliverable structure and approach, writing, editing, formatting, and enhancing with graphical or technical software)
  • Build trusting relationships with clients while helping them dissect and solve problems
  • Preference for familiarity with ServiceNow

What You Must Have to Be a IT Consultant

  • Active security clearance (DoD or equivalent ideally, must be at least Secret level)
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in information systems analysis, design & operations
  • Experience working with multiple IT solutions
  • Innate ability to proactively and creatively problem-solve
  • Ability to support IT related consulting efforts within the federal government space
  • Strategic thinking who can work in fast paced and changing environment
  • Active listening and critical thinking skills to make connections and extract key takeaways from a discussion
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills to organize information into well-written clear messages and compelling documents
  • Ability to collaboratively brainstorm and work with clients and Rockwood team while also having the ability to work independently from a home office, client site, and Rockwood office as required
  • Willingness to commute to client location in and around the DC Metro area; occasional travel outside of the DC area, i.e. Quantico, VA
