Job Description

Job Title: Technology Specialist I

Job Code: 5475

Supervisor: Technology Field Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Grade: 20

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Provide RPS 205 employees technology support with a focus on building and maintaining strong professional relationships as the primary point of contact for designated schools. This support includes installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of district owned mobile devices, laptops, computers, Chromebooks, iPads, peripherals, interactive flat panels, document cameras, and software.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

  • Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board’s strategic plan.
  • Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Conduct regular building check-ins with district staff and teachers to assess technology needs.
  • Install, maintain, and support district technology resources.
  • Respond with urgency to critical threats such as potential viruses or cyber-attacks.
  • Complete user-submitted workorders and assist users in submitting workorders.
  • Track, escalate, and follow up on work orders, communications, and activities to completion.
  • Maintain and update documentation and records of technical services provided throughout the district.
  • Provide imaging and device-wiping services to district hardware such as laptops, desktops, Chromebooks, and iPads.
  • Support and maintain a 1:1 student device ratio for assigned zone.
  • Provide input and feedback on the development of district technology policies and procedures as well as ensuring that they are adhered to.
  • Coordinates and communicates tasks and activities with Technology Services staff.
  • Provide peer training and mentoring through job shadowing for new hires and Summer Help.
  • Consults with outside vendors for troubleshooting and RMA procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred. 2-3 years technology support experience, CompTIA A certification or similar preferred.

WORK CALENDAR: 12 Months

WORKING CONDITIONS: Daily in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
