Rocketship Public Schools is Hiring a Behavior Technician Near Nashville, TN

Rocketship is looking for a dynamic, committed and Behavior Technician (BT) to become part of a vibrant school community. The Rocketship BT will do whatever it takes to support student achievement, both academically and behaviorally, and ensure that students are progressing toward their individual goals. 

This position at Rocketship will help students learn the skills that they need to solve problems and conflicts, build positive relationships with other students and adults, and successfully navigate the school environment so that they can reach their potentials in the classroom.

Location: 2526 Dickerson Pike, Nashville, TN 37207

Pay: ranging from $19.50-$24.00 per hour based on education and relevant years of experience

Essential Functions - Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate student’s needs and provides interventions to redirect behavior
  • Document appropriate data as instructed by the School Wellness Team
  • Implements behavioral programs and interventions designed to make positive and appropriate changes
  • Assesses crisis situations and defuses situations using conflict resolution and crisis management techniques
  • Write clear and detailed observations
  • Reinforces appropriate behaviors and redirects negative behaviors
  • Provides values clarification including rules, expectations and consequences
  • Implements logical consequences for inappropriate behavior
  • With proper training, physically restrain students if necessary for safety
  • During Distance Learning the BT serves as an Assistant Teacher to support online learning
Essential Functions - Communication and Consultation
  • Works with the School Leaders, and teachers to develop an effective program of interventions for changing unacceptable behavior of students
  • Provides information to parents, guardians, or other care providers concerning action of students
  • Ensures consistency of behavioral standards by coordinating with appropriate student contacts
  • Consults with teachers, operations team, and school leaders to obtain information and advice on prior behavior problems, and provides information as necessary concerning behavioral concerns
Essential Functions - Programs and Team Support
  • Assists the school team by monitoring student behavior changes, assisting with academics, and supervising various activities during the course of the instructional day to maintain a controlled and safe environment for students and staff
  • Attends IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and student progress meetings as requested
  • Implements school’s emergency procedures as requested
  • Attends trainings regarding safety, security, physical restraints and behavior management procedures as requested
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree is required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
  • Registered Behavior Technician certificate (RBT) preferred

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.

Compensation:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
