Whom We Seek

The Advisor is a key member of the advisory team working on client engagements and projects. In this capacity, the Advisor provides counsel and advice to individual donors, families, corporations, and foundations on their giving strategy, grantmaking, and related philanthropic activities. The Advisor also participates in cultivating potential client relationships, coordinating donor briefings and programs as well as representing Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors throughout the nonprofit, philanthropic, and business communities. Primary Responsibilities

The responsibilities include:

Client Services and Portfolio Management

Function as core grantmaking staff on client engagements by researching topical issues, organizations, and projects to make grantmaking recommendations to clients. Support the creation of client deliverables within an area of professional expertise, including research and information gathering, analysis, and stakeholder consultation as needed. Develop tailored recommendations for specific client goals.

Project Scope Definition

Plan and lead the delivery of a range of information gathering, analysis, and stakeholder consultation activities and specify, negotiate, and agree on project deliverables.

Project Risk And Issue Management

Manage identification of risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with the project, escalating these where appropriate. Where necessary, develop, agree on, and implement solutions to overcome these.

Project Quality

Maintain project quality, and take appropriate action to resolve any issues identified to give senior stakeholders confidence that the project can deliver on time, within budget, and quality.

Philanthropic Analysis

Assess issues, organizations, and projects to make grantmaking recommendations to clients regarding their philanthropic contributions. Includes conducting research, writing, site visits, grants management, preparing exercises and activities for clients, developing presentations, supporting proposal writing, etc.

Business Development

Review and/or assist in the development of proposals, identification of new opportunities, and other kinds of activities to support business development and marketing efforts.

Project Team Management

Work in close coordination with project team members to ensure appropriate division of tasks and responsibilities.

Project and Problem- Solving

Works with full competence to assess and execute various components of client engagement across a portfolio of clients, skillfully managing competing priorities, deadlines, and multiple projects.

Able to manage within time and resource constraints.

Able to explore and develop a solid understanding of external developments or emerging issues and contribute to the evaluation of their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the client’s goals.

Exhibits advanced mental mindset associated with assessing the facts and circumstances of the current situation and/or environment and making the appropriate/innovative adjustments to thinking and work habits to thrive in any scenario.

Able to work independently or with minimal ongoing supervision, but also able to function collaboratively as part of a broader client team as needed.

Desired Qualifications

BA and advanced degree or equivalent experience required

Travel Requirements

Must be willing to travel for client work as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $116,000 - $117,000 salary per year. The range listed is one component of the total compensation package for employees.
