Position Summary:

Rock Road Companies, Inc. is currently looking for a Project Engineer to assist with jobs based in Illinois. In this role, you would be responsible for assisting the Project Manager in the planning, management direction, project completion, client satisfaction, and financial outcome of assigned construction projects.

Essential Functions:

• Meet with Scheduler and Project Managers about upcoming jobs; discuss job folder, proposed scheduled start date, and completion date.
• Schedule and coordinate subcontractors on-site.
• Check sites for subcontractors' progress and document daily progress.
• Collect Daily Reports from subcontractors.
• Attend and take notes/record Weekly Project Meetings on jobs as determined by Project Manager.
• Oversee proof-rolls in failing areas, paint, and measure for change orders.
• Measure and document quantities for crews and billing.
• Paint out job limits, if the need arises.
• Get copies made of plans and deliver plan to subcontractors, if needed.
• Compare plan grades and dimensions to actual site conditions. If there are changes or problems, contact Project Manager to negotiate change order.
• Pull necessary permits as needed (i.e., municipal driveway permits, street opening permits, etc.).
• All other duties as assigned by Project Manager.

Knowledge, Experience, & Qualifications:

• Construction industry experience required, asphalt or concrete industry preferred.
• Technology proficient (i.e., Email, internet, etc.).
• Valid Driver's License with good driving record.
• Ability to read and scale site plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work 50-60 hours per week, including occasional Saturdays (May-November).
• High attention to quality and workmanship.
