SUMMARY

The Chief Cardiac Sonographer has supervisory responsibility for the RDCS staff in our outpatient Sands Constellation Heart Institute (SCHI).

LOCATION: Sands Constellation Heart Institute

DEPARTMENT: Cardiac Care

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday; Days

LICENSURE

Appropriate credential in echocardiography from: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).

ATTRIBUTES

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a health related field

  • Proficiency in ultrasound physics and instrumentation to operate ultrasound system in a safe, efficient and effective manner

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides supervision of sonographers including hiring process, orientation, annual performance appraisals, and coaching opportunities as needed.

  • Initiates and leads the process to attain and maintain IAC accreditation for the echo lab, including IAC related QA processes and meetings. Maintains established department, hospital and IAC accreditation standards for (IAC) quality assurance and safe work practice measures for patients, procedures, and equipment.

  • Mentors and trains students and new employees to help them reach the standards of the department. Instructs, evaluates, and coaches cardiac sonographers to effectively carryout their responsibilities.

  • Ensures standardization of departmental protocols including staff orientation, training, in services, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00
