Robeson County Local Government is Hiring a Real Estate Appraiser Trainee (PT/FT) Near Lumberton, NC
- Under limited supervision, performs technical work in appraising land, residential buildings, and building improvements for tax assessment purposes.
- Work involves conducting appraisals of real estate and real property for tax purposes; determining the appraised value using established policies, procedures, and standards as stated by local government and the North Carolina Department of Revenue; prepares and maintains related records; providing property tax information and answering questions from property tax owners and the general public regarding appraisal process, program requirements, and other programs related issues; conducting on site reviews of property, buildings, and improvements to ensure appraised values are consistent with approved schedules.
- Employee is also responsible for computing and pricing lot sizes, construction areas, subdivisions and land splits.
- Employee must exercise initiative and independent judgment in ensuring proper application of established policies and procedures to individual appraisal cases.
- Employee must also exercise tact, courtesy and firmness in frequent contact with property owners and the general public.
- Reports to the Real Estate Division Director.
- High School Diploma or GED; 2 years’ experience in real property appraisal or a related field such as construction; involving measuring/ listing of structures and data collection for appraisals; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license required upon hire and duration of employment. Out of state driver’s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state.
- Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, as well as submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants
