Responsibilities
- Achieve compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures and controls by working with business partners
- Manage monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP
- Assist in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors
- Ad-hoc projects as necessary
- Participate in various department-wide initiatives
- An endless desire to improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process
- Provide analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)
- Compose Balance Sheet account reconciliations
- Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing, with functional department managers
- Corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems experience a plus
- BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are desired
- Outstanding skills in analyzing financial data and promptly generating accurate reports
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must
- Minimum 5-7 years of overall general accounting experience
- Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
- Proficient in ERP systems
- Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
- The ideal candidate for this position can demonstrate proficiency in financial reporting systems
- Knowledge of Government Grants
- Process Documentation experience highly desired
- Oracle PeopleSoft experience desired
- Accounts Receivable (AR) experience
- Proven knowledge of year end closings
- Strong familiarity with grant accounting
- Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problem
