Robert Half has partnered with a multi-location retail business in search of a skilled and experienced controller. This is a private equity owned business in acquisition mode. As a Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing all accounting operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and implementing effective financial controls.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Manage the staff accountant and provide support as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 7 years of accounting experience in a small company setting.
• 3 years of experience as a Controller.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting.
• Experience in the retail industry, or sales and distribution industry is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
