Description
We are looking for a Programmer Analyst based in Cincinnati, Ohio. This role is primarily involved in developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting applications using the RPG programming language, particularly on IBM's midrange computer systems. The successful candidate will work closely with business analysts, end-users, and other IT professionals to ensure that business applications meet organizational needs and perform efficiently. This post offers a short term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain applications using the RPG programming language, primarily on IBM's midrange computer systems
Collaborate with business analysts, end-users, and other IT professionals to ensure that business applications meet organizational needs
Troubleshoot any issues that arise within the applications you are responsible for
Use RPG IV/ILE and built-in functions to enhance application functionality
Create and maintain service programs and stored procedures
Utilize RPG Free to develop practical solutions in free form
Apply practical experience with SQL and SQLRPGLE for database management and manipulation
Follow suit in legacy source code when modifying existing programs.
Requirements
Candidate must possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a Programmer Analyst.
Proficiency in AS400 RPG, IBM - RPG, SQLRPGLE, RPG Free, and RPG IV is mandatory.
The role requires strong problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
A proven ability to work in a team and coordinate with other departments is required.
Must have a strong understanding of programming and analytical principles.
Experience in software development and testing is necessary.
The applicant must possess a strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Familiarity with data processing flowcharting techniques is required.
The role requires an ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
The applicant must have a willingness to keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and programming languages.
Must have a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
