Robert Half is hiring a Purchasing Specialist for a client in Dexter, MI. It is 100% ONSITE but may have flexibility with 1 day remote after training.The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for supporting the purchasing function of the company by efficiently managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for operations. The role involves maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating prices, tracking and expediting orders, and ensuring timely delivery while adhering to quality standards and budget constraints.Duties & Responsibilities: • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on price, quality, delivery, and service standards.• Execute competitive bidding processes, follow-up with suppliers, and negotiate price and terms to ensure cost-efficient purchasing of goods and services.• Collaborate with various departments within the organization to understand their procurement needs and ensure the timely acquisition of required materials.• Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies to streamline the purchasing process and improve efficiency.• Maintain accurate records of purchases and track supplier performance through established metrics.• Monitor market conditions, price trends, and supplier performance to identify potential risks and opportunities.• Coordinate with suppliers regarding order acknowledgments, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure on-time delivery.• Handle potential supplier issues, such as quality concerns, delivery delays, disputes, and invoice discrepancies, and resolve them promptly.• Prepare purchase orders, obtain required approvals, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.• Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and establish corrective actions when necessary.• Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and payment to suppliers.• Stay up to date with industry trends, product knowledge, and best practices in procurement to provide expertise and support to the organization.• Other duties as assigned.Skills/Abilities: • Strong ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance from supervisor. • Excellent decision making and analytical skills with strong attention to detail. • Excellent communication skills, including listening, writing, and speaking.• Organized self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced, constantly growing & evolving startup environment.• Strong ability to multitask and problem solve.Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or related field• Proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist or similar role• In-depth knowledge of purchasing principles and practices including familiarity with contract management and negotiation techniques.• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills• Excellent organizational and time management skills• Able to analyze and interpret data• High level of accuracy and attention to detail• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
