Job Title: Contract Cyber Security Analyst

Location: Washington, DC

Position Type: Contract

Duration: 6 Month Contract with possibility of extension

Start Date: ASAP

Job Summary:

As a Contract Cyber Security Analyst, you will be responsible for strengthening our client's cybersecurity defenses and protecting their digital assets against evolving cyber threats. This role demands expertise in cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices, with a focus on proactive threat detection, incident response, and compliance management. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to implement robust security measures and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct thorough security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in systems and networks.

2. Implement and manage security measures, controls, and protocols to mitigate cyber threats and protect against unauthorized access.

3. Monitor security logs and alerts, promptly detecting and responding to security incidents with effective analysis and mitigation strategies.

4. Investigate security breaches and incidents, providing recommendations for remediation and prevention to minimize risk and impact.

5. Collaborate with vendors and external partners to support and secure external systems, resolving issues and managing permissions.

6. Document security issues, incidents, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitate knowledge sharing.

7. Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams, ensuring the successful implementation of security measures and regulatory compliance.

8. Generate and analyze utilization reports to evaluate the performance, capacity, and availability of security systems and tools.

9. Assist operational teams in system updates and upgrades, including patch management, antivirus, and endpoint management.

10. Collaborate with internal security teams to implement and verify controls and regulatory oversight requirements for compliance.

Requirements:

Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.

Experience:

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity roles.

- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, standards, and best practices.

- Hands-on experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint protection solutions.

- Proficiency in conducting security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and identify security risks.

- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and stakeholders.
