    Based at Fair School at Pilgrim Lane
    Program Assistant Level 7 ($25.56 - $32.89/hr) plus full-time benefits
    8.5 hours per day, which includes eight hours of paid time and 30 minutes of unpaid lunchtime
    52 weeks
    Reports to Adventure Club Program Director
    PRIMARY FUNCTION
    Under the direction of the Adventure Club Program Director, this position plans, trains, directs, and guides activities to achieve or exceed objectives in Special Education, equity, & inclusion. Responsible for creating a diverse and inclusive environment for the child care programs within Community Education ensuring fair treatment, equity, respect, and reasonable accommodations to enriching opportunities and resources in the program.
    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Ensuring implementation of, Community Education and District 281 Missions.
    • Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, to pilot such efforts when appropriate.
    • Participate in committee meetings to ensure reasonable accommodations within the individual education plans for students.
    • Observe & guide transition services for special education/504 students entering and exiting childcare programs as needed.
    • Obtain and use evaluative findings to gauge special education program implementation effectiveness.
    • Training, supervising and evaluating programming staff and implementing staff development in relation to special needs, equity & inclusion.
    • Collaborate with Community Education program leaders and the Executive Director of Community Education to design organizational procedures that reflect and reinforce equity, diversity and inclusivity in the workplace
    • Lead in developing effective guidance procedures for all children regardless of ability or special needs.
    • Keep current with new laws, trends, materials, and methods in programs under the supervision of this position.
    • Attend meetings, conventions, conferences, and events that will contribute to an awareness and understanding of changes and new procedures in the programs under the supervision of this position.
    • Ensure that curriculum renewal is continuous and responsive to student needs and cultural relevance.
    • Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
    • Demonstrated multicultural competency, ie: broad-based experience effectively working with and providing service for multiple diverse populations and programs.
    • Provide leadership in developing collaborative programs, relationships and initiatives that lead to student success, with specific attention paid to underrepresented populations and historically oppressed groups of students and development of their allies.
    • Develop, lead, facilitate, and assess a curriculum of inclusive professional development opportunities including but not limited to: educator learning communities, workshops, short courses, and training.
    • Produce educational content including online resources, blogs, newsletter content, and open-source materials.
    • Assist with ongoing assessment to determine teaching-related needs and initiate the creation and facilitation of new programs, resources, or initiatives to meet those needs.
    • Oversee and supervise the summer Basement program

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • BA/BS Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Special Education, or related field required.
    • Minimum, two (2) years of demonstrated experience managing special education/inclusion programming in an education environment.
    • 2 years experience working with individuals with special needs in an inclusive setting.
    • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, environmental stewardship, and social justice.
    • In depth understanding of all educational learning plans and with all state, federal, and local requirements.
    • Knowledge of federal and state special education/504 law.
    • Experience in staff supervision, training and curriculum development.
    • Evidence of strong written and oral communication and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated competency in conflict resolution, crisis management skills, commitment to multicultural, gender fair and disability awareness.
    • Demonstration and appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
