Roanoke City Public Schools is Hiring an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher (10.5 month position; 50% Position; No Benefits) Near Roanoke, VA

The Instructional Technology Resource Teacher (ITRT) promotes effective technology integration within educational settings. ITRTs collaborate with educators, students, and administrators to enhance teaching and learning through innovative digital practices. They are responsible for supporting the integration of technology into the curriculum, fostering digital citizenship, and empowering educators to use technology effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Learning Facilitator:
    • Facilitate learning with technology to support student achievement.
    • Incorporate learning strategies that accommodate learner variability, personalize learning, and allow student choice, self-direction, and goal setting.
    • Model the appropriate use of technology for communication, creation, collaboration, and problem-solving.
    • Assist teachers in selecting and using appropriate digital tools.
  2. Professional Learning and Growth:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development related to content, pedagogy, technology, and leadership.
    • Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in educational technology.
    • Participate in local and global professional learning networks to collaborate and learn in both physical and digital environments.
  3. Digital Leadership:
  • Model safe, legal, and ethical behaviors by embedding digital citizenship skills in online lessons and activities.
  • Select and attribute appropriate digital content, tools, and resources in alignment with local, state, and federal policies.
  • Uphold student privacy and security rights when collecting and using student data.
  1. Skilled Technology User:
    • Understand fundamental technology concepts, troubleshooting, and basic uses of technology in instruction.
    • Choose and use digital technologies (hardware, software, and web-based resources) to support classroom instruction.
    • Troubleshoot typical classroom technologies.
    • Perform basic computing operations (e.g., accessing accounts, managing files, navigating the Internet).

Qualifications

  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in education.
  • Certification: Valid teaching license.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of teaching experience.
  • Skills: Proficiency in technology use, troubleshooting, and instructional design.

Reporting Structure

The ITRT reports to the Supervisor of Instructional Technology.

Additional

The ITRT should be familiar with Virginia Standards of Learning, Virginia Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel, with the ISTE Standards for Coaches, and the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers.
