TitleMarket Manager (Romeoville, IL) Description

The Market Manager (MM) role is a key level leadership position reporting to the DVP with profit and loss responsibility for the assigned branch operations, with specific responsibilities for: (i) ensuring the company's branches operate consistent with RoadSafe's safety standards and continuously improve worker injury incident and motor vehicle accident rates; (ii) providing outstanding service to the company's customers; (iii) driving top decile profitability and returns on invested capital; (iv) improving the growth trajectory and profitability of acquired businesses, thereby fulfilling a core tenet of the company's strategic plan; and (v) being a thought leader for the other members of the Leadership Team and representing the company to outsiders.

RoadSafe is a branch-based services and distribution organization that leverages central management to support local operations and enable scale. The MM provides day-to-day oversight of the assigned branch operations, with its Branch Managers, Operations Managers and/or Project Managers as direct reports. The MM will work within a state and may oversee three to five branch locations. There will be considerable travel for this role to respective branch locations.

As one of the district leaders, the MM has a meaningful impact on creating and maintaining a healthy organizational culture within both their own function and throughout the company. He or she sets the tone for ensuring the highest level of ethics and standards are in place and never compromised. In part this is accomplished by modeling the right behavior and, having a zero-tolerance for any violations as appropriate. In addition, working closely with the peer group and branch organization to foster a highly collaborative, team-oriented culture and reinforce a positive culture of trust, understanding, tolerance and inclusion. And finally, s/he must have a solutions-based approach and demonstrate a result-oriented attitude and do whatever it takes to help the company and its employees achieve greatness in both the present and future.

Position Requirements

1.) Ensuring the assigned branches operate consistent with RoadSafe's safety standards and continuously improve worker injury incident and motor vehicle accident rates.

  • Translate the Company's Safety Culture into field execution programs and follow up to assure that each field location is participating and achieving the Company's mission of creating a safe work environment for employees, contractors, and the general public.
  • Oversee the branches safety compliance by understanding federal, state, and local regulations and communicating concerns and engaging in follow up activities to bring concerns to a satisfactory resolution.
  • Follow-up on Company training initiatives for covered locations and hold Managers accountable to complete training regimen. Work with mangers to identify additional training needed and communicate and work with Safety team members to implement training solutions.
  • Leads the way by serving as the District's safety captain. Work with safety managers and branch managers on themes and assist to solve for improvement needed.

2.) Providing outstanding service to the company's customers.

  • Manage key branch personnel through clear communication and teamwork, to establish location goals and assisting Managers achieve goals. Utilize Company specialist as needed for specific location issues and concerns as needed.
  • Vendor relations and negotiations as needed.
  • Establish systems to measure customer service and devise feedback loops with the company's branches to create a continuous improvement culture.
  • Build long-lasting professional relations with our customers through personal contact, site reviews, and responding to customer requests.
  • Understand the competition and pricing and bring opportunities for growth to sales and executive team with focus on both new business opportunities and current customers.
  • Understands all potential customers and competitors in the market(s), identifies target customers and devises tactics to increase profitable market share growth and effectively manages a Regional Account Manager(s).
  • Conduct branch visits and on location audits to gain insight into performance and correct undesirable behaviors.

3.) Driving Top decile growth, profitability and returns on invested capital.

  • Manage assigned branches sales and cost to increase district profit by guiding teams in financial decision making.
  • Create, implement, and monitor systems/programs to minimize branch costs.
  • Utilize KPIs appropriate for each level of the organization to monitor the performance of the business and drive business decisions.
  • Teach "what good looks like" without overwhelming less sophisticated branch management and employees.
  • Efficiently utilizes the company's assets, including facilities, equipment, inventory and accounts receivable leading to achieving return on net asset (RONA) goals
  • Foster a culture of accountability.
  • Achieve EBITA goal for branch locations. Accountabilities 4 Being a thoughtful leader for the other members of the Team and representing the company to outsiders. Teach branch personnel how to use the tools to optimize their operations.
  • He/she will bean experienced, thoughtful leaders who is able to work collaborative with their colleagues and make contributions outside of their core areas of responsibility.
  • He/she will be open to feedback and growth activities to further their own development.
  • He/She will lead by example and hold branches accountable on safety improvement, fiscal responsibility and people leadership without overwhelming their team.
  • He/She will work with Human Resources Business Partner to build and create top teams through individual and team goal setting, team training, succession planning and leadership development activities.
