- Recording time and production data
- Adjusting thermostats and observing a pyrometer to maintain the temperature between specified limits
- Setting furnace control to regulate the temperature and heating time
- Measuring the temperature of the products to determine the necessity for adjusting furnace temperature using thermal instruments and charts
- Preparing equipment and ensuring production settings are accurate
- Monitoring daily operation of machinery, adjusting settings as necessary
- Loading and unloading furnaces
- Performing routine maintenance on equipment
- Operating related equipment, such as cranes, forklifts, and power tools when required
