LUCAS Coatings is looking for a maintenance technician responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the business goals and objectives.

LUCAS produces professional grade coatings, sealants and adhesives and this position is based in our growing manufacturing facility in Alsip IL. This is an excellent role for an experienced technician looking to grow their career. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on manufacturing machinery. Perform basic to moderately complex electrical repairs and installations. Maintain motorized equipment. Perform basic to moderately complex grounds/facilities repairs, as required. Ability to recognize potential failures and use proactive approach prior to equipment failure. Ensure accuracy and safety in all operations.

• 6 plus years of Industrial Maintenance experience
• Diagnose and correct mechanical and electrical breakdowns in plant machinery and equipment.
• Perform routine and preventive/predictive maintenance on all machinery.
• Perform basic to moderately complex electrical repairs and installations.
• Maintain and repair motorized equipment.
• Operate forklifts to transport heavy parts and equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance of parts inventory with MRO and purchasing personnel.
• Maintain grinders and saws including adjusting and replacing blades.
• Maintain work logs as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Fill in for the production supervisor when needed

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain supplies at workstation.
• Use an assigned timecard daily to accurately record time worked.
• Attend weekly shift meetings and/or monthly plant meetings, if required.
• Actively participate in all plant safety programs, depending on location.
• Notify the department supervisor if proper tools are not furnished to complete job functions.
• Perform grounds/facilities repairs, as required.

Hours: Monday - Friday 7am- 3:30pm with occasional overtime.

Education: High School Graduate/GED.

Experience: Minimum of six years experience in industrial mechanical and electrical maintenance.

Knowledge: Knowledge of basic preventive maintenance scheduling and implementation required. Knowledge of basic carpentry and tooling. Must have excellent mechanical aptitude.

Mental/Physical/Visual Demands: Ability to learn basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills with on-the-job training. Ability to work well with others. Ability to work with some limited supervision to perform a job. Position requires walking, standing, heavy lifting, bending, and twisting. Must be able to work quickly with products and be able to lift 50 pounds maximum, able to lift with assistance 87 to 100 pounds, keep colors separate, and record weights accurately. Must be skilled in working with hand and electrical tools. Associate is frequently required to talk and hear.

Working Conditions: Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to equipment noise, temperature extremes, and dust. Work involves exposure to high voltage equipment and chemicals.

Safety: Safe work performance is required from each Associate at all times. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals. Required to wear or use personal protective equipment as applicable and to immediately report unsafe working conditions. Comply with all legislative requirements as outlined by Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
