RJG is Hiring a Quality Management System Specialist Near Traverse, MI

RJG is looking for a detail oriented, energetic Quality Management System Specialist to assist our Quality Manager with the day to day implementation, maintenance, and improvement of RJG's Quality Management System. In this role, you will guide and support cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant quality standards and contribute to the overall effectiveness of RJG's business processes.
Essential Job Functions:
QMS Maintenance
  • At the direction of the Quality Manager, manage the ongoing compliance of the Quality Management System with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Conduct regular internal audits to assess the effectiveness of the QMS and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and update QMS documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and forms.
  • Monitor and report on key results related to the QMS.
  • Drive quality improvements through the corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.
  • Lead cross functional teams through root cause analysis investigations for non-conforming products.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified issues.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify processes, situations, etc., where organization isn't meeting requirements, as well as lead proactive opportunities for improvement.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to the QMS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Facilitate various Lean activities within the organization, including: Process Mapping, Kaizan and other visual management techniques.
Document Control
  • Manage the document and change control process to include working directly with authors, reviewers, and approvers to facilitate document and change order workflow.
  • Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant personnel.
  • Implement changes to documents as required by the organization.
  • Communicate document changes and administer notifications to employees.
Supplier Qualification
  • Collaborate with the Quality Manager and Supply Chain Manager to assess and qualify potential suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to promote continuous improvement.
Engineering Changes
  • Work with the engineering team to assess the impact of proposed changes on product quality.
  • Implement and validate engineering changes, ensuring seamless integration into the manufacturing process.
  • Update and maintain documentation related to engineering changes.
Auditing
  • Manage activities to prepare for, conduct, and follow-up with site visits from customers or registrar agencies.
  • Coordinate and conduct internal audits to assess compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with relevant departments to implement corrective and preventive actions following audit findings.
Training and Awareness
  • Deliver training to ensure all employees are aware of and understand the QMS requirements.
  • Assist in the orientation of new employees regarding quality policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and track training records to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • 2 years of experience in quality management systems administration, document control, quality technician or similar experience.
  • 2 years of experience auditing to ISO 9001:2015 or similar standard.
  • Plastic Injection Molding industry knowledge and experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer interfacing abilities.
  • Strong critical reasoning, decision-making and problem solving skills to analyze information.
  • Elevated level of professionalism, self-driven, detail-oriented, and quality conscious “team player”.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in both verbal and written forms.
  • Excellent problem solving, statistical, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage difficult situations.
  • Excellent ability to quickly understand, identify and correct non-conformances.
  • Highly motivated, energetic, and willing to adapt to changing conditions.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage complex projects.
Work Environment: Office setting, client facilities, Injection Molding manufacturing areas, training labs, and virtual meeting spaces (ZOHO Meetings, Zoom, etc.)
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, bending, walking, lifting, extensive keyboard typing and computer work.
Travel Expectations: Light travel. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is acceptable with our insurance company.
