Rizo Lopez Foods, Inc. is Hiring a Wastewater operator Near Modesto, CA

The Wastewater Technician controls, monitors, and maintains the equipment and treatment processes in the facility wastewater system in order to remove or neutralize the chemicals, solid materials, and organisms in wastewater so that the water is not polluted when it is returned to the city sewer system.

Take samples, monitor wastewater system, and record daily readings; treat water accordingly and report discrepancies to supervisor.

Perform routine maintenance, and housekeeping tasks for wastewater and boiler room systems. Operate a forklift to load and unload hazardous chemicals.

Responsible for keeping wastewater and surrounding areas clean. Promote improvement efforts in wastewater management. Responsible for plant relationship with chemical products supplier to ensure timely and effective technical support.

Assist maintenance technicians performing minor maintenance work as necessary. Additional Responsibilities May perform additional responsibilities directed from management.

Promote and follow Rizo Lopez policies and procedures. Recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective / preventative actions. Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Skilled in writing simple correspondence.

Proficient Word and Excel Software skills. Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers Good autonomy and organizational skills.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Working knowledge of proper waste water pluming methods and techniques.

Working knowledge of minor equipment maintenance and repair; skill operating a variety of hand tools. Ability to operate forklift.

Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (heat and cold) and odors. Required to work with caustic chemicals to execute some job functions.

Required to work day, swing or graveyard shifts. Required to climb ladders and inspect the tops of tanks. Certification and License Forklift certificate Required Education and Experience High school diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience.

  • Sanitation or Quality related experience in a food production environment. Forklift Preferred Education and Experience Wastewater operator Certification ( a plus) 2 to 5 years related experience and / or training;
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work Schedule The typical work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week;

The employee must frequently use computer and other special operating equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment & Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions with exposure to heat and cold.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee regularly is exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and foul smells.

Employee should read the warning labels for information and instructions. Rizo Lopez maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) as required by law on hazardous products.

SDS's are kept at the office for review by employees.
