Responsibilities:
· Provides peer supports service with individuals with mental health/substance use disorders.
· Acts as a role model by utilizing individual lived experiences, advocacy, problem solving, coping techniques, and self-help strategies.
· Assists individuals in achieving increased community inclusion, participation, independence, and productivity.
· Services and activities will be completed in partnership with consumers and will be provided both within and outside normal hours of
operation.
· Documents activities in an electronic medical record
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Must have received behavioral health services and have a severe or persistent mental illness.
· Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Must have reliable means of transportation for community outings and transporting consumers.
Certifications:
· Must become certified as a Peer Support Specialist within six months.
