Job Summary

Take readings of the brain or central nervous system, which neurologists analyze to discern neurological conditions or perform neuropsychological research. Use proper techniques to obtain accurate readings and report the results.

Job Responsibilities

• Requires using proper techniques to obtain accurate readings and report the results. Requires ability to correct for electrical and mechanical interference, in addition to reading and distinguishing particular kinds of brainwave patterns.
• Observes and records readings on metering devices of analysis equipment and conveys findings of tests and analyses to physician for interpretation.
• Apply electrodes to patients' heads, chests, arms, legs or spinal columns, depending on the EEG procedure. Obtain medical histories of patients' neurological disorders, such as epilepsy or sleep disorders.
• Prepare, operate and maintain (EEG) electroencephalograph machines.
• Ensure that Standards of Care, Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics, and Policies and Procedures are followed. Comply with the regulatory agency rules and regulations to assure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
• Remain current and competent in scientific knowledge and clinical skills necessary to meet the responsibilities of the position.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Completion of an accredited Respiratory Care Program. Certified or registered by The National Board of Respiratory Care and licensed by the state of Indiana.

Experience Requirements

Preferred: Knowledge of EEGs and Pulmonary Testing

License/Certification Requirements

Minimum: Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association – upon date of hire
