The Activities Director leads the department and provides programming and services to respond to the life enrichment of residents including an ongoing program of activities designed to meet the interests, physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each patient.

Education/Experience and Licensure:

• Has two (2) years of recent experience in social or recreational program design or delivery, one of which was full-time in a resident/elder activities program in a health care setting or has successfully completed a training/certification program approved by the state.
• Experience leading a dynamic team of employees, including scheduling, recruitment, retention, training, development, and ensuring employee legal and regulatory compliance.
• Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist desirable.
• Must be comfortable with electronic records and proficient with computers and software/applications.

General Responsibilities

• Communicates with residents and family members to ensure the highest possible customer service and resident quality of life.
• Completes assessments, care plans and gathers other information to design activities that are multi-faceted, meets patients' functional levels, and reflects needs and interests of each patient.
• Maintains current knowledge of applicable regulations, laws and standards for long term care. Implements and ensures compliance with policies and procedures in accordance.
• Supervise Activity Department, including all regular staff, any outside vendors, partners, volunteers, and service providers.
• Maintains sufficient activity supplies and maintains budget integrity while continuing to grow and implement effective programming and services.
• Attends care conferences with members of the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate plans of care.
• Information Management: Enters, charts, or records data timely and accurately, protects confidentiality of patient information, protects data against loss or destruction while also meeting all necessary reporting timelines and maintaining data integrity.
• Completes assessments, care plans and gathers information to design activities that are multi-faceted, meets patients' functional levels, and reflects the needs, desires, and interests of each patient.
• Communicates activities and events schedules. Encourage patients' involvement and continuing engagement in activities, including transportation to and from event locations.
