RiverValley Behavioral Health is Hiring a Child and Adolescent Psychologist Near Owensboro, KY

Introduction: RiverValley Behavioral Health Children's Hospital is dedicated to delivering comprehensive mental health services to children and adolescents, and we are excited to introduce our new High-Acuity Youth Program, designed to address the critical mental health needs of this population. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Child and Adolescent Psychologist to join our team and contribute to the development and implementation of psychological interventions within our innovative program.

Position Overview: As a Child and Adolescent Psychologist within our High-Acuity Youth Program at RiverValley Behavioral Health Children's Hospital, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to children and adolescents facing complex psychiatric challenges. Working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team, you will utilize evidence-based practices to promote emotional well-being, resilience, and recovery in our young patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning of children and adolescents admitted to the High-Acuity Youth Program.
  • Provide evidence-based individual and family therapy to address a range of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, and disruptive behavior disorders.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans and goals based on assessment findings, incorporating cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused therapy, and other therapeutic modalities as appropriate.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational groups and skills-based workshops to promote coping skills, emotion regulation, social skills, and resilience in children and adolescents with mental health disorders.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the treatment team, including psychiatrists, social workers, occupational therapists, and educators, to ensure coordinated and integrated care for patients.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings, case conferences, and progress reviews to monitor patient outcomes and adjust treatment strategies as needed.
  • Provide consultation and collaboration with community providers, schools, and other agencies involved in the care of patients to ensure continuity of care and support transitions to lower levels of care.
  • Document patient progress, treatment interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives, including research, program evaluation, and development of evidence-based protocols and resources.

Qualifications:

  • Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist
  • Minimum of two years of experience working as a Child and Adolescent Psychologist in a clinical or mental health setting, preferably with high-acuity youth populations
  • Strong clinical skills in conducting psychological assessments, providing evidence-based therapy, and crisis intervention
  • Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic modalities for children and adolescents, including CBT, DBT, trauma-focused therapy, and family therapy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development in the field of child and adolescent psychology
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing the practice of psychology
