POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a specialized, professional and education position directing the interscholastic athletic programs conforming to the Georgia High School Association policy for Riverside Military Academy. The Athletic Director is the eyes and ears of the President in all things related to RMA athletics.
Work involves planning and coordinating all athletic programs provided Riverside Military Academy which includes, but is not limited to: baseball, football, wrestling, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, crew, cross country, swimming, track and intramural sporting events.
Supervision is received from an administrative superior. Work is reviewed through conferences and results achieved.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develop and monitor budget to supplement athletic program activities. Act as supervising and accountability agent for Academy athletic funds.
Approve coaching assignments, develop and coordinate all athletic schedules with coaches. Establish standards of police/cleanliness for athletic facilities. Provide supervision and care of Riverside Military Academy athletic facilities.
Establish standards for quality and quantity of equipment and supplies. Coordinate with President in the identification and procurement of new coaches. Provide a liaison between Riverside Military Academy and the Georgia High School Association.
Monitor coaches and ensure they are following established guidelines and procedures. Attend athletic events and assist coaches in effective and efficient execution of all sporting events/competition.
Facilitate financial obligations for officials of athletic events. Provide supervision of athletic summer camps. Coordinate with Physical Education department in regards to weightlifting for athletes. Develop contracts for sporting events. Ensure that security is fully apprised of each event to provide coverage.
Ensure President is immediately aware of serious injuries, cadet misbehavior, or personnel violations of Academy rules and behavior expectations.
Take immediate action when profanity/vulgarity by coaches is prevalent in the presence of cadets.
Maintain effective relationships with parents of cadets.
Coordinate use of the Athletic Facility with the public as directed by the President.
Keep the President apprised of coaches strengths/weaknesses with candid verbal and written evaluations.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITES:
All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS REQUIRED:
Masters degree from an accredited university in educational sports disciplines with a minimum of five years experience in high school sporting events environment. Two years of sporting administration including communications, budget, personnel coordination, etc.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with general public, co-workers and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
