Summary:

The Marketplace Gift Shop Sales Associate will provide outstanding customer service to employees, patients, families, and customers. The associate will be able to handle multiple customers at a time, and have the ability to accurately process transactions through a POS system. The associate will establish rapport with current and potential customers to integrate retail within the healthcare industry. The associate will work well with volunteers and other department staff to create a positive and welcoming environment, while being accountable and responsible for daily tasks with others—such as placing requests for special orders, responding to emails and calls, cleaning and assisting with merchandising, pricing, etc. Associate reports to Gift Shop Supervisor.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  •  High School diploma or equivalent
  • Retail sales experience (sales, returns, merchandising)
  • Ability to perform math functions regarding discounts, and sales transactions.
  • Willing to assist with inventory.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer experience (email/word/excel)
  • Able to work alone without supervision
  • Willing to supervise volunteers on your shift
  • Friendly, helpful and positive attitude with others
  • Familiar with POS and able to learn and utilize system functions properly and efficiently.
  • Able to complete deposits accurately

Responsibilities:

  • Promote retail sales within the healthcare environment and out in our community.

  •  Work closely with staff and assigned volunteers
  • Respond effectively to multiple customers ensuring all needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Assist with inventory control to ensure shelves are stocked and pricing integrity is intact.
  • Clean and dust daily to ensure presentation standards are kept, empowering volunteers to assist.
  • Communicate issues in a timely manner to the oncoming shift and/or the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate ability to merchandise displays.
  • Responsible for returns and exchanges.
  • Value customer interactions and relationships.
  • Understand and implement all policies and procedures regarding cash handling, safety, and security protocols.
  • Handle day-to-day activities with staff, patients, and families, logo wear supplier, candy vendors, and floral orders, ordering, inventory, scheduling, and some POS reports.
  • Communicate (call, text, and email) consistently with supervisor, volunteer services office, other gift shop staff, and Director to stay abreast in and between shifts, any time off, and during extenuating circumstances on the team.
